About Us

Who are we?

Page and Bill Smithers and their two dogs, Wrigley and Scout,  and other family members

can be spotted working on the farm year round. Their chickens and ducks roam the farm

and help support the farm by providing needed compost along with nearby neighbors and their horses.

Where are we?

Blue Sky Flowers is located on Blue Sky Farm just outside the town of Purcellville in
orthern Virginia.  We are family-owned and operated and began flower farming three years ago.

Why did we choose to farm flowers?

Flower farming is a juggling act -- trying to manage and build the soil (i.e. PH balance),  planting at just the right time, choosing plants that thrive in our climate and so much more.  We love the challenges!

Flower farming came natural to Page.  Growing up in Tidewater, Virginia, she spent time on the water and in her grandparents' gardens. When she was not trying to catch a crab or a fish, she was helping pick corn, string beans, okra, tomatoes, and more.  Page's mother, an avid gardener, was a long-time member of The Garden Club of Virginia growing beautiful flowers around their home.

Bringing beauty into other’s homes and sharing the joy flowers brings is incredibly satisfying.  We look forward to starting a new season of growing beautiful flowers and so much more.

What is a Flower CSA?

A flower CSA (community-supported agriculture) works the same as a vegetable CSA. Community members typically join in the winter/early spring before the growing season begins. Your payment and commitment to the farm helps us to purchase seed and other supplies needed for the season. By purchasing a subscription from us, you are supporting a local and family-owned business. Subscriptions help us provide something special and important to our community.
